Mindful Health Journey
I have been to the edge of many points in my life, edge of anxiety, the edge of a falling relationship, and pushed to the edge of inner turmoil. I wanted a change, my soul craved a change. The environment of the military combined with a bad LSD trip incited my internal environment to manifest into a living hell. A cocktail of anxiety and trauma made me reject many things inside, and in turn rejecting the many parts of life that would begin and continue to open to…
I searched for answers, first finding hope and answers through meditation, therapy, and a children’s cartoon. This led to my discovery of yoga, I searched out the words ‘Spiritual Yoga’ on Google, leading me to connect to the person who was able to support me in my first steps of internal recovery and connection.
Step by step I began to open to facing my internal struggles and sufferings, falling, and getting back up, over and over. And I’m still doing it. Yoga has given me an invaluable tool of opening and embracing the darkest parts of me and help them into the light. In turn calming my mind, opening my heart, and allowing me to be more deeply present than I have ever been. All of the relationships I get to share, have deepened, an opening of the heart is an openness to connecting.
Now I feel compelled to share this tool. The tool that has allowed me to balance out and reduce the symptoms of my OCD, ADHD, and even a bladder condition I have. As well as the physical recovery of a back inquiry from basketball and chronic knee issues from military service. Bringing balance to the mind and body helps allow the presence of the spiritual (Which is already always present) become naturally more aware of. Much like consistent radio static covering a transmission, when you calm the mind and body (The radio static) it can create the environment for spiritual to be more present in your life.
Openness to Challenges
Coming to your yoga mat is embracing challenge within yourself and opens you up to the challenges of life. From taking time out to do something that will benefit you, or holding stillness in your body and mind, or building discipline to do something when you don't have motivation; you are meeting the resistances in your mind. When you meet them in your mind with calmness and learning to let go of force or self pity, you learn to let go mentally of the resistances. Resistances that are let go of create space and an opening for new faucets of life to poor in that the resistance was not allowing for. What those things are, are for you to discover for yourself which is part of the beautiful process.
